Privacy Policy for Foldpad
Foldpad collects no data. There are no accounts, ads, or analytics. Your notebook stays on your iPhone and, when you use iCloud, in your private iCloud account, where we cannot read it.
Foldpad is a pocket notebook for iPhone, made for iPhone Duo. You write on its pages with a finger or Apple Pencil, turn them, and tear them out. Meet Pi has no servers that receive your notebook, and we don't sell your data or track you across other apps. This policy explains what the app keeps, where it keeps it, and how to delete it. Its App Store privacy label is Data Not Collected.
1. Data We Collect
None. Meet Pi does not collect, receive, or share your handwriting or any personal information. For completeness, here is everything the app itself stores or uses:
- Your notebook — The ink on each page, the pages you have torn out into the back pocket, your place in the notebook, and your choice of paper and cover color. It is stored on your iPhone and, when you are signed into iCloud, in your private iCloud account via CloudKit.
- Your first name, if you write it — If you write your name on the inside front cover or on page 1, the app can read it with Apple Intelligence, on your device, to print "[Name]'s notebook" on the cover. Only the first name it reads is kept, as part of your notebook. Erasing the name takes it off the cover.
- Purchases — The optional one-time purchase that lets you sew in more pages is processed by Apple through StoreKit. The app learns only whether your Apple ID owns it. We do not receive your payment card, billing address, or Apple ID password, and the purchase is not recorded in your notebook.
- Diagnostics — The app writes brief technical messages to the iPhone's own system log. They contain no handwriting and no name, and the app never uploads them. If you have turned on Share iPhone Analytics and Share with App Developers, Apple may share aggregate crash and performance reports with us through App Store Connect. These do not identify you.
We never see your notebook. No third-party SDKs run in Foldpad, and the app sends nothing to Meet Pi.
2. How the App Uses Your Data
- To show and save what you write, and keep your place across launches.
- To sync your notebook between your own devices through your private iCloud.
- To put your first name on the cover, if you write it and Apple Intelligence is available on your device.
- To unlock sewing in fresh pages when Apple reports that you own the purchase.
- To fix bugs using Apple's aggregate crash and performance reports.
We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell it.
3. On Your Device
The cover name is read on your iPhone by Apple Intelligence. The app draws the ink from the inside front cover and page 1 as pictures and asks Apple's on-device model whether they name the notebook's owner. On a device whose model cannot see pictures, Apple's on-device text recognition reads the handwriting first. Neither the pictures nor the text leave your iPhone, and neither is saved. Names written elsewhere in the notebook are not read. Without Apple Intelligence the cover simply says "foldpad", and everything else works the same.
4. Sharing a Page
Sharing is something you start. Share these pages, or sharing a torn page from the back pocket, makes an image of the page and opens the iOS share sheet. Where it goes is your choice, and the app has no part in what happens to it after that.
5. Data Storage & Sync
On your iPhone: The notebook is kept in the app's private storage, protected by iOS Data Protection.
Your private iCloud: When you are signed into iCloud, the notebook syncs through CloudKit to your private database, so your other devices open to the same pages. Only your Apple ID can reach it. We cannot read it. Without iCloud, the notebook stays on the one device.
6. Third-Party Services
Foldpad uses Apple frameworks only.
| Service | Purpose | Privacy Policy |
|---|---|---|
| Apple CloudKit | Sync of your notebook to your private iCloud | apple.com/legal/privacy |
| Apple Intelligence and Vision | Reading the name you write for the cover, on your device | apple.com/legal/privacy |
| Apple StoreKit | Processing the optional purchase and reporting whether you own it | apple.com/legal/privacy |
| Apple diagnostics | Aggregate crash and performance reports, when you share iPhone Analytics | apple.com/legal/privacy |
7. Your Rights & Controls
Access: Your notebook is in the app. You can share any page as an image.
Cover name: Erase the name you wrote and the cover goes back to "foldpad". Turning off Apple Intelligence in iOS Settings stops the app reading it.
Analytics and diagnostics: To stop sharing diagnostic data with Apple and developers, turn off Share iPhone Analytics under Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements.
Deletion:
- A page — Tear it out, then shred it in the back pocket. The app asks first. Shredding is permanent, on every device the notebook syncs to.
- The app's data on a device — Delete Foldpad from your iPhone. A notebook that was only on that device is deleted with it.
- Your iCloud copy — On your iPhone: Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Manage Account Storage > Foldpad, then delete the data. This removes the synced notebook from iCloud.
GDPR (EU): If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, and port your data, and to object to or restrict processing. Because we hold none of your data, the controls above are how you exercise these rights. You can also contact us at the email below, or lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
CCPA (California): If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and to request its deletion. We collect none, and we do not sell personal information.
8. Children's Privacy
Foldpad is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. If you believe we have received such information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Data Security
We rely on Apple's protections for data we never hold:
- Encryption in transit — iCloud traffic uses HTTPS/TLS.
- Encryption at rest — Your iPhone uses iOS Data Protection, and Apple encrypts iCloud data. We cannot decrypt your notebook.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Keeping your notebook off our systems means a breach of Meet Pi could not expose it.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app or the law changes. We will note material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, in the App Store release notes.
